Japanese roots

Amongst the different Karate federations existing in the world our T.S.K. federation has joined the W.S.K.F. (World Shotokan Karate-do Federation) which allows it to keep a strong bound with Japanese karate roots.

Gishin FUNAKOSHI

creator of the shotokan style

Hitoshi KASUYA

Chief Instructor of the W.S.K.F.

A good example of this strong bound with Japan is the fact that all superior gradings of T.S.K. students (the "Dan" of the black belts) are only handed out by a Japanese master, namely, Sensei Hitoshi KASUYA, "Chief Instructor" of the W.S.K.F. This takes place during W.S.K.F seminars that are organized worldwide and in Belgium. Sensei Kasuya possesses a 8th Dan and has been world champion several times as well in kumite as in kata.

Sensei HAYNES himself went several times to Japan, either to lead his students to the World Championships or to take his grading exams. In 2009 in Japan, he obtained his 7th Dan. Among other things, this probably explains the high technical level which characterizes his trainings.
